The Beautiful Benefits of Exercise

There are plenty of reasons to exercise.  For some, it’s because you booked a vacation at a beach destination or have an upcoming event, while others are focused on staying healthy overall. Whatever your motivation, there is no better time than the present. And, it’s not just your body and mind that will reap the rewards. There’s another great benefit: Healthy Skin.

Skin is the body’s largest living organ and sweating through the skin is the best form of detox. In fact, cardio training helps to flush toxins from the body, feeding minerals and nutrients to the cells, subsequently helping with regeneration of skin and new cells.

Here are some of my favorite beauty benefits of exercising…

INSTANT GLOW
Ever catch someone walking down the street with a radiant pink flush and post-workout glow? Working out not only boosts circulation but also improves lymphatic drainage, resulting in a glowing complexion.

ACNE RELIEF
Some people believe exercise can cause acne. But, the truth is sweat, caused from exercise, actually helps to create a better skin protection barrier. Blood and oxygen flowing through the skin help draw toxins out of the body, including toxins that clog pores. Tip - Make sure to cleanse your face after exercising otherwise you’ll be negating the positive effects exercise can have on your skin.

SWEET DREAMS
Our skin regenerates at night – calling it “beauty sleep” for a reason. Regular exercise leads to a better, deeper sleep. Any form of exercise that gets the heart rate going and the metabolism stimulated, makes the body tired at night. Research shows that skin cell regeneration almost doubles at night, so it’s important to consistently exercise to ensure a good night’s sleep.

STRESS LESS/REDUCE FINE LINES
Exercise decreases levels of the stress hormone, cortisol, and increases levels of endorphins; not to mention that you generally feel more relaxed after a workout. A constant relaxed expression can help minimize fine lines and wrinkles on your face. Exercise also boosts the production of collagen, which helps your skin repair itself, delaying the onset of wrinkles and other signs of ageing.

So go ahead and get on that spin bike or take that fitness class. You'll look & feel your best.
Stay fit, and you'll stay beautiful!
